LucknowPulse is proud to announce the commencement of the 3rd season of the Begum Festival, a four-day extravaganza celebrating literature, culture, and the distinctive charm of Lucknow. The Salempur foundation run festival is being organized from December 22nd to 25th at the picturesque Salempur Lawns. The theme for BegumFest 2023 is “Andaaz-e-Lucknow – The Swag of the City”
The festival was inaugurated with great pomp and fervor by Prof. Dr. Abbas Ali Mahdi, Vice Chancellor – Era University He commended the visionary efforts of Salempur Foundation founders, Mr. Rushdi Hasan and Mrs. Asma Hasan. Dr. Mahdi emphasized the crucial role of such initiatives in reviving Lucknow’s rich cultural heritage, contributing to wards making Lucknow a global tourist attraction.
Renowned Historian, Dr. Roshan Taqui, unveiled this season’s theme – “Andaaz-e-Lucknow: The Swag of the City.” The festival kicked off with an engaging conversation between Lucknow’s beloved Dastango, Himanshu Bajpai, and Qais Mujeeb, a Member of Salempur Foundation, exploring the nuances of Lucknow’s unique cultural style – Andaaz-e-Lucknow.
The festival also hosted an Urdu short-story writing contest, “Afsaana Nigaari,” where top three selected entries were narrated to a captivated audience.
The excitement continues on December 23rd, 24th, and 25th, with a diverse range of literary sessions, a Bayt-baazi contest, Mushaira, Nashist, an Urdu calligraphy session, and creative contests designed for children. The highlight of the remaining festival days includes the Qawwali night on 24th December and the mushaira on 25th December, which would be featuring young Urdu poets from Awadh.
