World Tourism Day is celebrated globally on 27th September. Department of Tourism, Uttar Pradesh government, also completed its 50 years on the same day this year. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the three-day Uttar Pradesh Tourism Carnival 2021 at the Gomti Riverfront Lucknow starting from 27th September to 29th September 2021.
To promote tourism in the state, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Carnival was inaugurated with the launch of a Mobile App of U.P. Tourism Corporation along with flagging off event for two new tourist buses. A short film on Banaras was also released on the occasion. The Chief Minister also attended a book release event. This book talks about the Traditional food of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, various travel and tourism packages were announced by the Uttar Pradesh CM. Ten distinguished citizens from U.P. were felicitated for their outstanding contribution in promotion of tourism.
Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma and State Law Minister Brajesh Pathak were the guests of honor of the concluding days function. The theme of the carnival was “Tourism for Inclusive Growth”.

On the first day of the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Carnival, famous folk singer Malini Awasthi gave a spectacular performance. The audience were mesmerized by her singing. It was followed by a few Kathak performances and jugalbandi performance on flute and drums. Folk and Sufi performances was given by famous band Anhad and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame Harshit Mishra also performed in the festival.

Lucknowi and Awadhi cuisine food stalls were set up along with local handicraft and paintings exhibitions. The aroma of delicious food, refreshing music with attractive lighting pulled the crowd towards the carnival. Magic show, puppet show, dance and various competitions kept the crowd engaged and entertained.
Names of competition winners were announced towards the end of the carnival. Some of them are as below:
• Nitin Rawat of Ritz Continental for Best Food Stall
• Aradhana Jaiswal for Rangoli
• Shashank for Quiz
• Shreyanshi for Poster-making
The festival ended on a good note. Lucknow needs more of such carnivals or events to promote the cultural heritage, tourism and food of the city.
