Summers have set in and the first thing that comes to mind when we think of the season is the scorching heat. But there’s still some time before the harsh sun completely takes over and this makes it the perfect time to visit the lush green parks that cover the city. The onset of summers is also great time to indulge in some outdoor activities and fortunately, Lucknow is blessed with huge, scenic parks that serve as the perfect spot for family outings. One such park is the Janeshwar Mishra Park that in Gomti Nagar extension that spreads over 376 acres.

Developed as a complete recreation center, the eco-friendly Janeshwar Mishra park already has kids’ play areas, boating facility, almost never-ending jogging tracks and walkways. To add to it, the Lucknow Development Authority now plans to set up a cycling facility and food kiosks in the upcoming months as well.

The cycling facility will begin by May and the visitors will be able to rent the bicycles for a very nominal amount. Since the idea of having cycle tracks in the park was always in the works, the authority has already constructed the tracks over an area of around 9 acres. At present, LDA has a reserve of around 25 cycles and will deploy more cycles in the future.

Now so many physical activities are bound to leaving you craving for some food and snacks but LDA seems to have you covered here as well. The park will soon have food kiosks that will sell eatables like chips, ice-cream, cold-drinks and snacks. While these kiosks will probably become functional within a month, LDA will also start a food court that will serve different varieties of cuisine, spread in an area of 5,000 square meters.

The park has recently imposed an entry fee of Rs. 10 between 8.30 AM and 6:00 PM and is valid for three hours. However, morning walkers, senior citizens and children below the age of 12 are exempt from the fee.

Today most of us happen to be caught up in our hectic schedules, often at the cost of our health and peace of mind. Places such as these serve as a nice retreat to spend some time by your own self or with family and friends. Facilities such as the jogging tracks cycling tracks and availability of bicycles on rent may go a long way in encouraging people to follow a healthy lifestyle by taking up physical fitness outdoor activities like cycling and jogging. With Lucknow on the way to becoming a bustling metropolis at an exponential pace, this might as well be the need of the hour.
