A Creative Art Workshop at Asma Hussain Institute of Fashion Technology is going on at the institute in Hazrat Ganj, Lucknow. Here’s a peek inside.
The Asma Hussain Institute of Fashion Technology is currently hosting a vibrant Creative Art Workshop from June 6 to June 11, 2024. Open to all age groups and free of charge, this event offered a diverse range of daily workshops including Pichwai painting, fashion styling, modeling, photography, content creation, and makeup workshop. The workshop began with a two-day Pichwai painting session on June 6-7, 2024, which saw the enthusiastic participation of 30 individuals. The session was conducted by Ritu Mehrotra, a celebrated artist renowned for her expertise in Pichwai and Tanjore art. She is the founder of Ritukriti, a brand known for its hand-painted textiles showcased globally. Ms. Mehrotra was joined by Ashutosh Vardhan from Banaras Hindu University, a distinguished artist whose works have been exhibited internationally. Together, they provided comprehensive guidance to the attendees eager to delve into this traditional art form.
Asma Hussain, the Chairperson and Managing Director of the Institute, emphasized that the workshop features an impressive line-up of renowned celebrity artists, including Maroof Umar, Taha Ahmed, and Sneha Charan. She also announced the upcoming introduction of new courses in textile designing, makeup & hair, and fashion styling, aimed at expanding the institute’s educational offerings.
On June 8th, Fashion Styling & Modeling was led by Asma Hussain, a heritage fashion designer who launched her first collection in 1994 and founded the Asma Hussain Institute of Fashion Technology. Her designs have been worn by Bollywood celebrities such as Saira
Banu, Kirron Kher, Shabana Azmi, Kalki Koechlin, and Soha Ali Khan. Asma Hussain is recognized not only for her pioneering work in fashion but also for her dedication to training and educating thousands in fashion, modeling, and acting. Her influence extends beyond fashion, inspiring many through her social work and efforts in handicraft revival.
On June 10th, a Photography & Content Creation session will feature Maroof Umar, a modern-day storyteller, known for preserving cultural heritage through his work. He will be joined by Taha Ahmad, an award- winning documentary photographer. Taha has been recognized internationally, with his work published in The Times, Vogue Britain, and The Guardian. He has collaborated with notable film directors and his work has been exhibited in various international photo festivals.
