Powered by LucknowPulse, Salempur Estate and POSH by Asma Hasan organized Begum Fest 2022 Winter Edition at Salempur House, Qaiserbagh, Lucknow.The 3-day fest ended on a high note and good spirit. This season’s theme was “ Rooh-e-Lucknow: The Mohallas of the City.” With this theme, people got a chance to know more about the old and famous Mohallas of Lucknow.
The fest was a great fusion of traditional culture with latest trends. From various Kashmiri products to modern décor and handicraft items, people were attracted to the stalls. People relished several delicacies from Awadhi cuisines to street-food Chaat to Chowk’s famous Makkhan Malai to Turkish Ice Cream and Chai. The 3-day fest was packed with interesting sessions, puppet show, Qawalli and many others which enthralled people throughout the day.
BegumFest 2022 Winter Edition
BegumFest 2022 Winter Edition was inaugurated by Dr. Roshan Jacob, IAS (Lucknow Commissioner) in conversation with noted filmmaker, painter, artist, and author Padma Shri Muzaffar Ali on his autobiography “Zikr”.
Photo Exhibition
The photo exhibition featured the work of an award-winning Indian photographer Mosaddiq Reza Qummi. The curator of this photo exhibition was writer S.N Lal who is well known for his articles and priceless efforts towards the preservation of Awadh’s culture and heritage.
Adity Chakravarti engaged in a conversation with historian Dr. Roshan Taqui and took the audience on a nostalgic experience from the bylanes and heritage houses of the old Mohallas of Lucknow. Audience was fascinated by the famous Dastango and author of the book “ Qissa Qissa Lucknowwa” Himanshu Bajpai as he spoke about the Lakhnawi and famous Mohallas of Lucknow in his own fun-loving ‘andaaz’.
Apart from the above highlights, many other literary cultural activities took place such as Mehfil-e-Tassawuf with Ali Sufi Brothers who mesmerised the audience with a round of qawwali, storytelling (Qissagoi) with light and sound show, talks and discussions, youth and children fest, Gulabo Sitabo puppet show.
This season was a huge hit than the previous one. BegumFest 2022 Winter Edition, a culturally rich event of the Awadhi history and food took you back to the roots of Lucknow. For further details and inquiries stay tuned with LucknowPulse.
